Farah Islam-Barrett

Farah works on the Department of Health Strategic Partners programme.   Her responsibilities include facilitating stakeholder engagement between national, regional and local VCS, related public and private groups, and policy officials from the Department of Health.  She works closely with the other Strategic Partners developing work programmes and consulting on thematic work streams.  She writes briefs and responses based on policy and Foundation led consultation events.  She has devised and organised several series’ of regional seminars focusing on policy issues, engagement and equalities issues, across England.  She identifies and takes forward work based on the issues highlighted in these “informed conversations”.

Farah’s background is in education, social development and the private sector. She has lived and spent long periods of time in Japan, Spain, India and travelled extensively elsewhere. Outside of the Foundation she is a fellow of the School for Social Entrepreneurs and a founder and trustee for two community programmes.  One focuses on mental health issues whilst the other focuses on the use of sport, discipline and achievement for children and young people in disadvantaged communities.

She enjoys music, singing, travel, cinema and spending time with her family.
