Maurice Kennedy Parent Programme and Training Officer
Maurice trained as a parent facilitator in 2004 and has since delivered numerous programmes as a freelance facilitator in the London region, as the chair of the SFSC advisory panel for over 3 years he has been instrumental in promoting the practice of the programme in the UK. Maurice has also provided consultative supervision to other parent facilitators and has served as an associate trainer for the Race Equality Foundation, delivering the 5 day facilitator training programme and many of the SFSC enrichment programmes to facilitators across the UK.
Maurice has been working in the care and education sector for over 25 years. He has a diverse experience: as a teacher, residential social worker, senior community worker and as a trainer and consultant. Maurice has a first class degree in Professional Studies in Education and has designed, developed and facilitated training packages for professionals and carers working in social services, NHS, private and voluntary sector.
Maurice has a key interest in the personal and professional development of others and sees this as a focal objective of his training and consultancy assignments. He believes that training can be an enjoyable and interactive experience, as well as challenging and stimulating. As a full time Trainer and Consultant he travels extensively across the UK to deliver courses as commissioned. Maurice has specialised in the delivery of Equality and Diversity courses and other programmes promoting consistent and effective practice among teams. His extensive experience working with adult services combined with his training and consultancy experience with children and family services has provided Maurice with unique insight into the complex issues and challenges faced by service providers, service users and community members.
