The Department of Health has issued a consultation to look at conditions for membership of the new NHS monitoring body, HealthWatch England.   The consultation considers issues including:

  • the number of the members
  • suitability for membership
  • the process for appointing members
  • the period of time a member should be appointed.

The consultation is on the DH website, and is open until Friday 2 March 2012:

The Race Equality Foundation is among a number of representatives from the voluntary and community and equalities sectors that have been selected to partake in the HealthWatch England Advisory Group.  The advisory group provides ‘bottom-up’ expert, practical advice on the development of HealthWatch England, a new monitoring body set to oversea health and social care services in the  NHS.
