Jabeer Butt, Deputy Chief Executive of the Race Equality Foundation recently took part in a live webchat organised by the Guardian to debate how the riots affected the social housing sector, and what can be done to reduce the likelihood of a recurrence.  Jabeer's key points emphasised the role of the social housing in alleviating poverty, and the likely impact of housing benefit reform, particularly upon black and minority ethnic communities.
