Race Equality Foundation - Tackling Race Inequalities Programme
The Department for Communities and Local Government’s Tackling Race Inequalities Fund supports work which promotes race equality. With TRIF funding, the Race Equality Foundation is developing a resource for housing and health practitioners to help them improve health and housing provision for black and minority ethnic communities.
Better Health and Better Housing Briefing Papers
Central to our work is our collection of evidence-based briefing papers. Although the papers focus on a variety of different issues and ethnic groups, overarching themes include:
- the impact of personal or institutional racism on black and minority ethnic service users and staff
- limitations in the provision of culturally, ethnically and linguistically appropriate health and housing services
- obstacles to participation and engagement by black and minority ethnic service users in health and housing services, such as segregation, dispersal or language
- intersections between age, disability, gender, faith, poverty and ethnicity
- best practice examples to tackle discrimination and disadvantage

Better Health and Better Housing websites
The Better Health and Better Housing websites provide access to the full collection of Better Health and Better Housing briefings alongside a supplementary collection of related resources and weblinks. The sites also highlight the changing legislative background to equality issues, and provide guidance to help practitioners embed good practice in their everyday work. We are also keen for others to get involved in our work, with a forum to discuss the papers and resources, share ideas and good practice, and promote their own events and research.
To access the full collection of free-to-view briefings, resources and weblinks, please visit the Better Health and Better Housing websites.
